VILNIUS COUNTY
Vilnius - is the administrative centre of the county ( www.apskritis.lt). The county includes the city of Vilnius and the districts of Šalčininkai, Širvintos, Švenčionys, Trakai, Ukmergė, Elektrėnai and Vilnius; it is situated in the eastern part of Lithuania and borders on the Republic of Belarus, and within the country–the counties of Alytus, Kaunas, Panevėžys and Utena.
Population: 848.6 thousand.
Total area: 9650 sq.km (around 15% of the country’s territory).

KAUNAS COUNTY
Kaunas - is the administrative centre of the county ( www.kaunas.aps.lt). The county includes the districts of Kaunas, Kėdainiai, Kaišiadorys, Jonava, Prienai and Raseiniai, the city of Kaunas and the resort town of Birštonas.
Population: 685.7 thousand.
Total area: 8060 sq.km.
Kaunas County is situated in the centre of Lithuania. It is surrounded by 6 counties–Alytus, Vilnius, Panevėžys, Šiauliai, Tauragė and Marijampolė.

KLAIPĖDA COUNTY
Klaipėda – is the administrative centre of the county ( www.klaipeda.aps.lt). The county comprises Klaipėda city, Palanga and Neringa towns and the districts of Klaipėda, Kretinga, Skuodas and Šilutė.
Population: 382.2 thousand.
Total area: 4942 sq.km.
Klaipėda County is the only county in Lithuania on the Baltic Sea coast. Its western border goes along the Baltic Sea. The county shares borders with the Republic of Latvia and Kaliningrad Region (Russian Federation). Within the country it borders on the counties of Telšiai and Tauragė.

ŠIAULIAI COUNTY
Šiauliai – is the administrative centre of the county ( www.siauliai.aps.lt). Located in the middle of Northern Lithuania, the county spans Šiauliai City and the districts of Akmenė, Joniškis, Kelmė, Pakruojis, Radviliškis and Šiauliai.
Population: 360.8 thousand.
Total area: 8540 sq.km.

PANEVĖŽYS COUNTY
Panevėžys – is the administrative centre of the county ( www.pava.lt). The county includes Panevėžys City and the districts of Biržai, Kupiškis, Panevėžys, Pasvalys, and Rokiškis.
Population: 292.4 thousand.
Total area: 7880 sq.km (the fourth largest county in Lithuania).
Situated in North-central Lithuania, Panevėžys county shares border with the Republic of Latvia, and within the country borders on the counties of Utena, Vilnius, Kaunas and Šiauliai.

ALYTUS COUNTY
Alytus – is the administrative centre of the county ( www.alytus.aps.lt). The county in situated in the south of Lithuania and covers the towns of Alytus and Druskininkai and the districts of Alytus, Lazdijai and Varėna. It borders on Belarus and Poland, and within the country it shares borders with the counties of Marijampolė, Kaunas and Vilnius.
Population: 202.2 thousand.

UTENA COUNTY
Utena – is the administrative centre of the county ( www.is.lt/Utenos_apskritis). Located in the north-eastern part of Lithuania, the county includes the districts of Anykščiai, Molėtai, Ignalina, Utena and Zarasai and the town of Visaginas.
Population: 179.0 thousand.
Total area: 7201 sq. km.

MARIJAMPOLĖ COUNTY
Marijampolė – is the administrative centre of the county ( www.marijampole.aps.lt). The county includes the municipalities of Marijampolė, Kalvarija and Kazlų Rūda, and Vilkaviškis and Šakiai Districts. Located in the south-western part of Lithuania, the county borders on Kaliningrad Region and Poland and within the country it shares borders with the counties of Kaunas, Alytus and Tauragė.

TAURAGĖ COUNTY
Tauragė - is the administrative centre of the county ( www.taurage.aps.lt). The county includes the territories of the Tauragė, Šilalė, Jurbarkas districts and Pagėgiai municipality.
Population: 131.5 thousand.
Total area: 4411.5 sq. km.

TELŠIAI COUNTY
Telšiai – is the administrative centre of the county ( www.telsiai.aps.lt). The county, located in the northwest of Lithuania, between the counties of Klaipėda and Šiauliai, includes the districts of Telšiai, Plungė, Rietavas and Mažeikiai.
Population: 177.0 thousand.
Total area: 4139 sq. km (or 6.3% of the total Lithuania’s territory, it is the smallest among ten counties of Lithuania).
